How to Make Air Fryer Roast Sweet Potatoes
- Preheat the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for a few minutes. This will ensure that it’s hot and ready to go when you’re ready to cook.
- Prepare the Sweet Potatoes:
- Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water and scrub any dirt or debris from the skins.
- Pat the sweet potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
- Trim any ends or imperfections from the sweet potatoes.
- Leave the skin on for added texture and nutrients, or peel the sweet potatoes if you prefer.
- Cut the Sweet Potatoes:
- Cut the sweet potatoes into evenly-sized pieces. You can cut them into rounds, wedges, or cubes, depending on your preference. Make sure the pieces are of similar size to ensure even cooking.
- Season the Sweet Potatoes:
- In a mixing bowl, toss the sweet potato pieces with a drizzle of olive oil. Use enough oil to lightly coat the pieces; this will help them become crispy in the air fryer.
- Add a pinch of salt and any additional seasonings you like, such as black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, or any other spices of your choice. Toss well to coat the sweet potatoes evenly.
- Load the Air Fryer Basket:
- Open the air fryer basket and arrange the seasoned sweet potato pieces in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the basket, as this can prevent even cooking and crispiness.
- Air Frying:
- Place the loaded basket back into the preheated air fryer.
- Set the air fryer to cook at 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the sweet potatoes for about 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket or tossing the sweet potatoes halfway through to ensure even cooking.
- Check for Doneness:
- Check the sweet potatoes for doneness by piercing them with a fork or knife. They should be tender on the inside and crispy on the outside.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Once the sweet potatoes are cooked to your liking, carefully remove them from the air fryer using tongs or a spatula.
- Transfer the roasted sweet potatoes to a serving dish.
- Serve the roasted sweet potatoes hot as a delicious side dish or snack.
- Optional Toppings:
- Feel free to add your favorite toppings like a sprinkle of fresh herbs (such as parsley or chives) or a drizzle of yogurt, sour cream, or a squeeze of lime or lemon juice.
